Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays the Peace Room is open and available to students for support in the Guidance Office-8:30-9am and 11:30-2pm.
Tutoring is available for all students. Normal tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays continues from 3:30-4:30 in room 160. In addition, tutoring is also now available on Wednesdays from 2:30-3:30 in room 114.
Today is a historic day because for the first time in history, popcorn will be for sale in the New Commons. So much like Dr Leardi says at the start of her Tuesday night disco skate night at skateland south, let’s get it poppin’! For such a historic day you can get a bag of popcorn for just $1! Popcorn in the New Commons TODAY for $1 a bag!
The Springfield Public Schools’ Board of Education invites interested incoming high school seniors (current juniors) to apply to become the 2026-2027 Student Representative to the Board of Education. One incoming senior will be chosen to serve as the Student Representative during the upcoming school year. Additional information and the application can be found at: https://forms.gle/Kh1aKBbeoE7gvwXi8. The submission deadline is 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026.
Students, please know:
1. Students may continue to enter in two locations in the morning: the NEW entrance on Lewis Street OR the OLD commons entrance on Washington.
2. Any student who arrives after 8:15 a.m. MUST ENTER THROUGH THE NEW ENTRANCE ON LEWIS ST. After 8:15, ALL students and visitors must enter through this door as well.
We ask that if you are dropping a student off and are close to this time, that you please drop off at the new entrance, as the OLD commons entrance will close at 8:15 a.m..
Be A Senator has a special treat for those students who have had no referrals, no tardies and no unexcused absences for 3rd quarter. Shamrock Shakes will be handed out on Friday during both lunch shifts to these students. Lists of the students who meet these criteria will be posted in the Commons Thursday morning. Be sure to check the lists before Friday.
Juniors and Seniors - if you are interested in working the local election on March 17th, 2026, you can apply by picking up a flyer from Mr. Lightfoot in room 224. When you fill out the form, you must have it signed by your parent and an administrator, plus have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be available to work from 6am - 7pm that day. You will be paid for the day! See Mr. Lightfoot with questions.
Any Junior or Senior girl interested in or curious about playing Flag Football at UIS for their inaugural season, should come to the main office and pick up an informational flyer. The flyer contains information about being a college athlete at UIS, as well as a QR code that will link you to the prospective student-athlete form. Scholarships are available! Check it out!
